''Truth's triumph : or, A witness to the two witnesses from that unfolded parable of Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, the High and mighty God : Matthew, chap. 13, verse 30 to 42'' was a book written by Thomas Tomkinson in 1676 as a compendium of the Muggletonian faith and to combat popular misconceptions about it.〔Thomas Tomkinson ''Truth's Triumph'' written 1676. Revised by the author and printed 1690. Further reprinted Covent Garden: W. Smith (1823) The 1690 printing would have been whilst Lodowicke Muggleton was still alive and the book begins with a short dedication to him.〕 Professor Lamont describes it as Tomkinson's "own greatest contribution".〔William Lamont ''Last Witnesses'' Aldershot: Ashgate Publishing (2006) p. 114〕 ==Introduction== Thomas Tomkinson says he will discuss the fundamentals of the faith under eight heads. * The True God * The Two Seeds * The Right Devil * Predestination * The nature of the law * The mortality of the soul * The Devil's torments * The saints' joys in Heaven The reader is warned that "The Scriptures calls things that are not, as though they were; and sets that first which should be last, and last which should be first; to the end that Reason should never find out the meaning of God in the Scriptures."〔Tomkinson ''Truth's Triumph'' P. 94〕 Throughout his book, Tomkinson relates his text back to Gospel of Matthew 13: 37 to 42, wherein Jesus explains the parable of the tares.〔J. C. Fenton ''The Gospel of St. Matthew'' Harmondsworth: Penguin (1963) p. 225 says that this parable does not occur in Mark, nor in Luke, and is full of idioms peculiar to Matthew. Debate continues about the parables of Jesus. One example is a dispute about possible hidden meanings or deliberate intention to mislead. There is widespread doubt that parables were originally presented as allegories in the way Matthew tells them. Both the matter and the debate surrounding it are discussed in D. E. Nineham ''The Gospel of St. Mark'' Harmondsworth: Penguin (1963) p. 125 to 132. However, whatever view is taken of the significance of Jesus of Nazareth, he is unlikely to represent a typical man of his time.〕 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Truth's Triumph」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
